The Magellan 9550i is the latest generation of bi-optic scanner in the Magellan family, available as a scanner only or as a scanner with an integrated scale. It is designed for grocery retail checkouts — supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol stations with a food aisle — as well as for self-checkout lanes.
With improved 1D and 2D reading performance and native support for GS1 2D Digital Link, the Magellan 9550i is a smart, sustainable choice for retailers who want more speed at the checkout without a bigger budget. It draws under 3 W — less than an ordinary LED bulb — saving energy and reducing the store's environmental footprint.
Superior performance
The Magellan 9550i outperforms the previous generation of bi-optic devices with a reading speed 45% higher on 2D codes and 14% higher on 1D codes, which translates directly into shorter queues at the till. It reads damaged codes, codes printed on poor-quality labels and partially covered codes without difficulty, including QR, Data Matrix, GS1, PDF417 and Aztec.

Energy efficiency
Power draw of under 3 W (in Eco configuration) is lower than an ordinary household LED bulb, with no compromise on the reading performance associated with the Magellan name. It suits companies with sustainability commitments.
Ready for the future: GS1 2D Digital Link
The Magellan 9550i supports GS1 2D Digital Link codes, which will change the way retailers interact with products. A single 2D code can serve several purposes at once: fast and complete product recalls, expiry date management, or instant display of online product information for the end customer.

Accurate weighing and loss prevention
Thanks to the All-Weighs platter design, with integrated horizontal and vertical weighing surfaces, the Magellan 9550i weighs even bulky products correctly. The optional USB colour camera, mounted in the top cover, allows image capture and basic AI workflows such as produce recognition when paired with a PC running dedicated AI software. Together with the EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance) tag deactivation function, the equipment adds a further layer of protection against in-store losses.
Enterprise integration
The Magellan 9550i offers remote management capabilities and is compatible with platforms such as OPOS, JavaPOS, DLRMUS, Toshiba Remote Management Agent and other ERP management solutions, for straightforward integration into existing infrastructure.
